“Selecting the creative talent for Squat Art, the concern is not with mass approval but rather a respect of creativity and a love it or hate it approach.
What attracts us to these creative souls is that the passion is in the creation, they are finding ways to express themselves and their desire is not to be trapped within a single discipline; they seek creative freedom and evolution. They are trying to have a voice first; then worry about how to make a living out of it.
These are the quiet ones, who are rising above complicated corporate interests; they are not striving for immediate fame and fortune, forgetting about the actual work and living in a world of creative compromise.
Working across different categories and medium to express themselves, they are looking for a creative freedom and an evolution.”
Squat Art:
Squat Art is not motivated by profit, but instead aims to offer opportunities to a creative community, helping them to ascertain relevant exposure and making their work available to what can often be a closed market.
Squat Art will host permanent online portfolios for its stable of artists and curate themed exhibits. Acting not only as a gallery, Squat Art will offer all contributing artists a free workspace if needed and link them to reputable studios, agencies and publishers.
Patrons to the Squat Art online gallery will be able to view exhibitions and individual artist portfolios, discovering each artist at work in their own environment through exclusive interviews, photographs and short films. All works of art will be available to purchase.
Squat Art will also sell a selection of vintage art, design and photography books, post cards and a yearly-published Squat Art gallery catalogue.
Stepping outside of its own domain, Squat Art will “squat” on other gallery and magazine websites as well as coming offline for in-store pop-up gallery exhibitions.
